About the Utrecht Science Week

Utrecht Science Park is flourishing. This can be seen in the scientific achievements and successful collaboration between knowledge and care institutions and specialised companies, as well as the arrival of new parties – both established names and startups – all with grand ambitions and a passion for innovation. Together, we are working to create a healthy, sustainable society.

Together with the organisations that make up Utrecht Science Park, an extensive programme has been compiled for the week from 30 September to 7 October. The varied programme is online from today. Come, see and hear how science and craftsmanship reinforce each other at Utrecht Science Park on the way to a healthy, sustainable society. Intended for everyone who works, studies or is generally interested in the scientific achievements in Utrecht or their application. Take a look at the events you can already register for!

A small selection from the programme: the Utrecht Science Week gets off to a good start on Friday 30 September with the “Back to the future” conference on 100 years of laboratory-based education and the renowned Betweter Festival in TivoliVredenburg. On Saturday and Sunday, the doors of several locations in Utrecht Science Park will be opened to the public during the national Weekend of Science. Throughout the following week, there will be lectures, debates and “bring-your-own-lunch meetings” on a wide range of subjects. Tuesday 4 October is HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht’s Sustainability Day. Thursday 6 October is the Healthy Living Theme Day, featuring Jaap van Dissel and a lecture tour with Utrecht University’s alumna of the year, Marion Koopmans. The Utrecht Science Week will conclude on Friday 7 October with the Utrecht Science Lecture by Hans Clevers and the finals of the Sustainable Campus Challenges in which students pitch their ideas for a sustainable living environment.

This second edition of the Utrecht Science Week will also focus on Utrecht’s 900th anniversary celebrations and in particular the theme ‘City Without Walls’. Together with Utrecht Marketing, the organisation is working on a programme to give participants in the Utrecht Science Week a taste of the anniversary celebrations in the city.
