Matteo Monai

Matteo Monai is Professor at Utrecht University. He obtained his PhD in Chemistry in 2017 at the University of Trieste, Italy, under the supervision of Prof. Paolo Fornasiero. During his Ph.D. he was a visiting student at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn)  in the groups of Prof. Raymond J. Gorte and Prof. Chris Murray (materials synthesis). In 2017 he was the recipient of the Parmaliana Award for the best Italian PhD thesis in “Catalysis for a Sustainable Development”. His interests are the synthesis and characterization of advanced heterogeneous catalysts the activation of small molecules (e.g. methane, CO₂) and hydrogenation/dehydrogenation reactions for sustainable energy production and environment protection.
