As a member of the Executive Board, Josefien Kursten helps determine the general policy of UMC Utrecht. She is also responsible for finances and (sustainable) operations. With her vision on appropriate care, Josefien brings a lot of expertise to keeping high-quality care accessible and affordable in a broad sense.
After studying Economics, Josefien started working at various ministries as a financial policy advisor. After more than 10 years, she switched to the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa). Josefien held various management positions at the NZa. Since 2016 until early 2022, she was director of regulation. Social commitment is leading in the steps Josefien has taken in her career.
